  18. Denise:
Infancy - Breast-feeding is most important for children from birth to 4-6 month and even up to 1 year old, to promote growth and development. Pure 100 percent juice can be introduce no earlier than 6 months of age directly from a cup and in a proportion of no more than 4–6oz/day. Young children should n0t be forced to eat if they are not hungry, since their caloric intake varies with every meal; and they should not be overfed. Always offer and introduce new healthy foods to children though they may refuse it; not only for supplying energy but also for nutritional values.

Eating patterns - Eating patterns should include foods low in saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars. Fat intake should be between 30-35% of calories for children 2 to 3 years of age and between 25-35% of calories for children and adolescents 4 to 18 years of age, coming from sources such as fish, nuts and vegetable oils. Children should be served fat-free and low-fat dairy foods such as 2 cups of milk or its equivalent daily for children 1-8 years and 3 cups for ages 9–18. Fruits from 1 cup/day, between ages 1 and 3, to 2 cups for a 14–18-year-old boy should be included in daily diets. Vegetable intake ranges from 3/4¾ cup a day at age 1 to 3 cups for a 14–18-year-old boy.

  19. Corrine Frazer: The article gave a lot of useful information. As it relates to infancy it gave clear information on how, when and what to feed your infants. Infants should be given breast milk for all least 4_6 months, longer if possible and we should reduce the juice intake of our infants. the article further gave us strict instructions not to over feed our infants. As it's relates to eating patterns we should ensure we are eating food from all the food groups.when we deserve Children food in the right proportion we ensure that they are getting all the necessary nutrients that they need for normal growth and development. I have also learnt that our a diet that consists of whole grains a best
