ReplyDeleteWe must stimulate a climate of non-discrimination for persons with disabilities because they have as much rights as we do.
I agree Janelle, in addition the PWDs group with the public being informed of how to accept and treat persons with disabilities. The Plainfield is now being leveled with public spaces and places are being more accessible and better services are render now to persons with disabilities thanks for the educating of the public of how to deal with people with disability.

Yes I concur with the information which was given and also with Janeil & Crystal for putting these valuable points out,and as it relates to PwDs, I want to highlight too that pwDs their lives become easier without feeling segregated when they are included, because including them others learn to develop values and understanding of how to appreciate them or assist them not having this interaction with them persons without disabilities would not develop compassion in being patient with or to help a pwDs because they aren't learning or doing things on their paces so having them involve and learning to live with them helps them to be caring and more patient towards others.
This helps pwDs to have a sense of security and not feeling restricted to do somethings only and with this inclusion they will make themselves more effective and less of a burden to be included when they come into contact with others. This helps them to undue their burdens when everyone is aware and allow them to be apart of them like normal persons.
PwDs are also social models and should not be treated or overlooked by their medical model, because it is their ability to do things and not how they look.So the disability act is very helpful in helping person with disabilities to be confident when they allow persons without disabilities to make pwDs exercise their rights without feeling discriminated by how they look so they will not feel left out of society.
Janiel what can educators do to create an environment that fosters non-discrimination?
DeleteNadine good evening everyone
ReplyDeleteGood evening Nadine
DeletePersons with disabilities should have the rights to participated in society and get medical attention just as anyone else.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you share this view?
DeleteTracey-Ann
ReplyDeleteYes, they should, because they only do things different, look different, walk different, and even communicate different, but they have right just as any normal person.
ReplyDeleteNadine i forget to put my name at the begining
DeleteGood evening ladies. I am awaiting your posts.
ReplyDeleteNadine: I think every schools should make it mandatory to put in ramps, rails, and other adjustments to accommondate children with special needs. When you seperate PwDs in spevial schools thats how you get discrimination from children and even adult knowing that its a special school

I do believe this too Nadine that it is inexcusable in not having to prove to accommodate CwDs and it should be mandatory to every school when considering to structure a school for every children, not having to do this can be a result of discrimnation as you have stated and CwDs would not feel included or welcomed, and the disability acts as all right to act.
Schools should be made with ramps & rail and be provided with other technology support and arrangements so these persons can work from them to proceed on their own and should be observe for work as everyone else even when not expected to finish at the same time but they should not be separated from the others, but combined to learn how fast others go and they will even develop skills from seeing others doing things a little different from and person without disability learning also to pick up on the level where the pwDs has been working on, because when they are separated in a segregated space with others of the same needs they will not learn from each other to be more independent and active.
Very good points Yanique. I see that you have completed the relevant reading tasks. For schools that do not have the finances to support this initiative, what do you propose?
DeleteCorrine Frazer. You must always identify the person before their disabilities. Also being struct with a disability does not always mean you can't make your own decisions, you should be allowed to do so once you are capable
ReplyDeleteWhy is this important Corrine?
DeleteI agree with Tracy they are human just the same and also apart of our society. Corrine Frazer
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think some people have a hard time accepting PWDs?
DeleteIn addition to crystal points this is where the media comes into play. The should use the platform to highlight the disability community and help to educate our nation. Corrine Frazer
ReplyDeleteCorrine Frazer:As it relates to reasonable arrangements it is my opinion that not every institution can afford to make the necessary changes to accommodate Person with disability base on cost, however those who can afford to should.I think it should be instructed to all who are building new schools to have these in place to facilitate PWDs .
ReplyDeleteCrystal.
ReplyDeleteWith the fact that schools should not be tasked with proving ramps and such an for students with disabilities. Does not means that they can't or shouldn't try to facilitate this group. Especially with inclusion approach classrooms.
Schools are indeed tasked with making reasonable accommodations for PWDs. What does the Disability act 2014 says in this regard?
DeleteTracey
ReplyDeleteReasonable arrangements should be made for persons with disabilities inorder for them to move around freely,as providing technology that can assist them in learning and enjoying there rights to advance in society.
Is that the only reason for marking these arrangements? What does the Disability acts says in this matter?
DeleteI think that children with disabilities should be enrolled in regular school base on their disabilities once they can cope or learn, but I also think that once the school are teachers are not trained or prepare for that then they should go to special school that can accommodate them physically, emotional and educational.
ReplyDeleteTracey
ReplyDeleteFirst I would let mrs james know that she is a teacher and her first priority is her students providing them with the best care and assistant as possible she should try to adjust by helping them to participate by given activities that draws their attention, or work with them individual so they can get a chance to participate fully in what she is doing,And I would remind her that it is wrong for her to call them names, and more over argue with the parents as this will leave a bad look and the institution.
What advice would you have for Mrs. James in relation to her training in ECE?
DeleteNadine Hi Mrs James, i heard you telling the parent that their children is stupid, and see you slaps them for not paying attention. Do you ever stop to think or observe the children to know really if something is wrong with them why they behave the way they do.When caregivers are not properly trained it will make your job more stressful and hard on both you and child
ReplyDeleteVanessa Cain I think children with PWDS should be enrolled in regular school base on their disabilities once the teachers are trained to care for their special needs and school have rails and other protective measure, while I also believe that they should go to special school if their requirements can't be met physically, emotionally or educational in a regular school.
ReplyDeleteWhat benefit would all children have within an inclusive classroom?
DeleteI would point out to her that firstly they are babies and must be treated accordingly and allowed to be Children. I will further point it that Children develop at different stages. I will then point out that the children have special needs and should be given equal opportunity, although miss James is not trained once you identify the needs of a child you can help them base an their needs and abilities. Failure of miss James to address the problem I will be forced bro report, first to principal if not improved ,I will report the matter to the Child Development Agency
ReplyDeleteI am happy that you are all getting through tonight. Keep up the good work.

I will take time out to share information with Mrs.James with CwDs so she can develop on understanding of children learning patterns and what can be a result of not learning on the regular pace with other children, also I would very much inform her to always observe her children so that she will know how they learn in order to meet them at their level in providing task for each children that is the same but making it more easier for those base on how they learn to do it.
Then I will require of her to do a review on how shes been doing and if she has been doing the right thing and for where she needs to pick on and the necessary changes she should make and what she haven't noticed and has recognize now to now put into practice these methods and to offer apologies to parents and to do better in catering for these children with disabilities.
Task four: Corrine Frazer. As it relates to what I have learnt from this unit is the correct terms of reference for person with disabilities. I have also learnt that out of all the minarity group's the disabled community is the largest. With proper representation the disabled community will get the mush needed help they need to function more productively. We have come a long way and are making the right steps to incorporate the disabled into our society .If everyone plays his or her part the world will become a better place for our citizen with the various disability. Person with disabilities are able to function effecient if given a chance
ReplyDeleteCorrine: I am happy that you have learnt this much. Yes, we all need to offer support to PWDs.
DeleteI have learnt that person's with disabilities should be giving the rights just like anyone in society, the right to education, the right to participate in political events, and that we should not decriminated them but let them be free to do whatever they want just as other person's.

I have learnt that pwDs are persons we should never discriminate against or overlooked by their medical model, because they still have the abilities to do things we limit our minds to that they cannot do.
That pwDs should be treated fairly and included as normal persons and to have access to the same goods and services.
I also learn too that the disability act has a right to act against schools and public places who have not make accommodations for pwDs to have access too which cannot prove to them for not making these adjustments.
And they can undue the burden by providing schools with these so CwDs can move around and do things on their own without the school having to feel burdened with doing anything for them other than providing the learning materials they need.
I also learn that not everyone is aware of how children learn and even so CwDs and can often be misunderstood and mistreated for not interacting at the level as the other children.
Also I learn that everyone should participate in learning about pwDs so they dont breach any of them, failure to do so, and breaching against any pwds then the disability act will act against you.
Yanique: Well said. I am impressed with how much you have learnt. What steps can be taken to ensure that everyone learns about PWDs?
