The following are suggested portion sizes by age, however a child's stage of growth and development, age, appetite, and activity will all play a part in deciding on what portion sizes are right for your child.
CHOCKING HAZARDS : A choking hazard is any object that could be caught in a child’s throat blocking their airway and making it difficult or impossible to breathe. Many children do not chew their food well so they try to swallow it whole.
FOOD HANDLERS PERMIT : The Food Handlers' Permit project undertaken through funding from the National Health Fund. Students who are required to handle food as part of their course of study need to obtain food handler's permits.A food handler's permit is valid for one year from the date of issue, and must be renewed every year.

ReplyDeletePortion refers to the amount of food given to a child at meal/snack time while serving size refers to the appropriate amount of food for a child based on their age.
Children should be given child-sized portions of food until they become adolescence.
Calories and nutrients are measured based on serving size.
Choking Hazards
Choking occurs when anything placed in the mouth is stuck at the throat, preventing breathing from take place.
Young children should should be carefully monitored or supervised when eating.
Items that are most likely to cause choking are those that are round, smooth and hard, such as guineps, grapes, popcorn, hot dog, latex balloons, small-parts toys, coins, marbles, etcetera.
Food Handlers Permit
Everyone who is involved with food for work purpose, or for studies should obtain a "food handlers permit".
Operating a business in food trading or in the food industry without a food handlers permit is a serious breach of the public health regulations.
Obtaining a food handlers permit require an application fee, and an form of identification - such as driver's license, passport or national I.D.

Parents also need to be aware that serving at restaurant can vary. For example,kid sized hamburger and kid sized fries at the restaurant. However, your child's stage of growth and development age , appetite and activity will play a part in the deciding on what portion size are right for your child.

The food handlers permit project undertaken through funding from the National Health fund, will modify the current system by replacing the paper cards with PVC'ID style" cards. As some of the process involved in delivering this service will automat, the new system will offer benefits of greater efficiency more durable card for clients, and reduced turnaround time some sample of person who need food handlers permit are Butcher, cashier, chefs manager and student is catering school.

Any object that could be caught in the child’s throat blocking airway and making it difficult or impossible to breathe is a choking hazard ,for children that are 4 years or younger you have to take extra safety measures or don’t feed them food such as nuts and seeds,hot dogs,whole grapes, popcorn etc these are all choking hazards.for infants and younger children they naturally crawl and put things in their mouths so you have to ensue a safe environment.coins ,latex balloons,marbles,small balls are some choking hazards for infants.
A food handlers permit is permitted to persons currently working in or planning to work in a food handling establishment,regardless of their position.

ReplyDeletePORTION: it is the amount of food you serve your children at meal time or snack time. Child-sized portion of foods are what a child needs until they get older. children serving size is based mainly upon age and weight.
CHOKING HAZARDS: this is when an object stuck in the child's throat causing the blockage pf breathing properly. If the child is 4 years or under do not feed him/her no Nuts and seeds, whole grapes, popcorn etc... When feeding an 4 year old or under cut the food size to larger than One half-inch.
FOOD HANDLER'S PERMIT: this is a document that shows you did a test and passed and you are now eligible for handling or preparing food in any business place or institution. This permit last for one year and needs constant renewal. All student whose course requires handling food needs an Food Handler's Permit.

A portion should correspond with a child’s age, weight, activity levels, growth and development and appetite.
Children should be fed correct portions to ensure their calorie and nutritional needs are met.
Choking Hazards
A choking hazard refers to a food item that may become lodged in one’s airway that may cause choking and difficulty breathing.
Choking hazards may include bite sized food items such as nuts and seeds, whole grapes and popcorn, toys such as deflated latex balloons, marbles, coins and buttons and those items labeled as not safe for children under a certain age. To safe proof a house from choking hazards ensure that small objects are kept out of the reach of children.
In the event a child is choking, call the police and an ambulance, try to remove the object from the airways via Heimlich maneuver and be trained in the art of CPR.
Food handlers permit.
Anyone, regardless of their profession or status, including students whose courses require them to handle food should possess a valid food handler’s permit. The permit has a 1 year expiration date and should be renewed every year. To operate a business or work with food without a food handlers permit is a violation of the public health regulations and is a punishable offence under the law.
Portion is the amount of food you choose to serve your children, at each snack or meal which on a nutrient fact label is a specific measured amount, the calories and nutrient information based on the serving size of a 2000 calorie diet. Some serving may not be the right portion for children, they should eat fruits, vegetables, grains, meats, protein and dairy.

Many children do not chew their food well, children 4 years old or younger should take extra safety measures when eating hot dogs, nuts and seeds, chunk of meat or cheese, whole grapes, hard, gooey or sticky candy, popcorn, chunk of peanut butter, raw veg, raisins, chewing gum and marshmallows. Foods should be cut into no larger than half inch, make sure children sit up right and eat instead of walking around. Do not feed children in cars because if choking the driver may not notice, when children starts to crawl around they naturally put things in their mouth, therefore, create a safe environment. Search around for small items like latex balloons, marbles, coins, toys with small parts etc. Take a CPR class to prepare yourself, you could be very helpful to someone.
The National Health Fund (NHT) is responsible for the food handlers. All persons who is planning to work, currently working and handling food or working in a food establishment needs a valid food handlers permit. The food handlers permit is valid for 1 year from the date of the issue and should be renewed every year.

Choking Hazards.
You should be careful to search for and clear objects that are key targets for children that lay around floors that children when they begin to crawl reach for. And whenever preparing children food ensure that food size is one and half size so children wont choke an food that will block the airway that sends oxygen to the brain which can cause damage or death.And be sure to contact 119 if anything happen like this or attend classes that practice CPR so you will be able to help quickly if the child has swallowed any object. And this is easily avoided when you purchase a choke tube so you test for objects that are too small that can cause these incidents.
Food Handlers permit.
Every person who is in the department of preparing or handling food must hold a food handlers permit once their work involves food and this is used for 1 year time and should be renewed after this time, this permit is given when you have registered or applied for one and consist of all your personal information amd cannot be shared with anyone to use. And if you are working in a place that handle foods and do not have food handlers permit then you will breach the public Health regulation.

ReplyDeleteFood portions are important and children diet. With the proper portions children will have a balance calories intake. So that they won't be under nourish or over nourish.
As caregivers and parents, we should be mindful of food choking hazard. Cutting children food in the recommend sizes will prevent choking hazard. Children should be seated during mealtime, it is also not recommended to have children eat while being in the car.All persons currently working in or planning to work in a food handling establishment, regardless of their position, need a valid food handlers' permit. Persons such as: Butchers, Cashiers, Chefs Managers or Merchandisers Production Line staff or Proprietors Waiters.
Work in the food trade without a food handlers permit is a serious breach of the public health regulations. Be reminded if your food on the permit last for one year, so if expired you are not supposed to be working in a food establishment or rendering service in such establishment.
Portioning : It is very important to know the right balance for your child. Restaurant serving size may vary so it's a your right to ask about serving size.A child eating portion may differ base on their age, appetite and the level of physical activity.

Parents should restrain from certain foods if the necessary precautions cannot be made inorder to prevent choking. Once a child reached the age to crawl parents should remove all possible choking hazards from the home
Food Handlers Permit:The health inspector are responsible for informing us about the rules and regulations of the health department. All person in the food service sector must have a valid food handlers permit. The permit are renewal to keep us up-to-date on my any changes in the sector
