Tamari:
ReplyDelete1. Acute Stress is the most common cause of stress which comes from demands and pressures of the recent past and anticipated demands and pressures of the near future. It is usually short term and its symptoms are recognized by most people. Most common symptoms are: Emotional distress, Muscular problems, Stomach, gut and bowel problems and Transient over arousal.
2. Episodic Acute Stress occurs when one suffers from acute stress frequently. If you have episodic acute stress, you may feel like you are always under pressure or that things are always going wrong. This can be exhausting, both physically and mentally. Symptoms include: persistent tension headaches/migraines, hypertension, chest pain and heart disease.
Often times individuals who suffer from this type of stress see nothing wrong with the way they conduct themselves and so sufferers can be fiercely resistant to change.
3. Chronic stress is ongoing stress resulting from long-term emotional pressure. For example, a stressful job, unhappy family situation, or money problems.
If one has chronic stress, the body experiences the fight or flight response too frequently to recover between episodes. This means the individuals nervous system is constantly aroused, which is not good where health is concerned.
4. Four types of stress are:
• Substance abuse
• Loss of increased appetite
• Feelings of anxiety or frustration
• Headaches
5. The importance of identifying that someone is experiencing stress will confirm whether or not they are suffering from stress as some signs are not easily observed and so a combination of signs is more reliable.
6. Culture is the way of life (practices, customs, food, dress, language) of a particular people. In order to observe the signs of stress and acknowledging that an individual is experiencing stress, there must be consideration of the cultural background of the individual. In some cultures it is said to be normal when an individual reacts to a situation in a certain way. Some persons, for example will "use" (abuse) certain substances because is it apart of the culture or lifestyle .
7. Stressors are external situations that leads to stress.
Three stressors are:
• inadequate skills/training
• Poor work-relationship
• Unmanageable work load

It is important to identify someone experiencing stress to help them manage new situations and maintain their physical health using various strategies example therapies(allow them to relax).
6.Culture refers to a person's way of life. The ideas customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society.Culture can affect the stress and coping process as cultural context shapes the type of stressors that an individual is likely to experience and so the negative feelings or reactions that we experience as we try to adjust to life in a new culture are often unclear to us, which may cause stress.

5. What is the importance of identifying that someone is experiencing stress?
Identifying that someone is experiencing stress is the first step in effective stress management. It is an opportunity to start tackling the problem in order to achieve a certain level of equilibrium in all aspects of one's life. By doing this, they are able to find out what is causing the problem and to come up with viable solutions on how to tackle this.
6. Define culture and state why culture affects an individuals response to stress.
Culture is simply the way of life of people. Culture is a defining factor in how one reacts to stressors and how he/she decides to cope with them as culture shapes what we value. In a society where individuality is placed at the forefront one might be more callous in their decision making as opposed to a society where collectivism and social harmony is emphasized. In some cultures, too, people might see stress as a sign of bad luck. Therefore, it will in most cases be viewed as a result of one's actions and least likely to be attributed to external factors.
